Office 365 MFA setup

  1. Download the Microsoft Authenticator from the app/play store onto your mobile device (it is available for both iOS and Android)
  2. Once the Microsoft Authenticator is installed on your phone, go to the following link on your computer, sign into your True North Mortgage account if prompted (this will be your email credentials).
  3. You will see 1 of two screens so please follow a or b depending on what options are presented to you:
    1. Choose Mobile App then select Use Verification Code, either will work so pick whichever you prefer (“verification code” requires you to enter the code from the app, “receive notifications” will send a notification to your phone that you just approve or deny).

    1. If you’ve already added a phone number or alternate email to your account you may see a different screen than what is shown above (see screenshot below), if so select “Use verification code from app” under the drop down menu, check the box next to “Authenticator app or Token” then select “Set up Authenticator app”.

  1. Click on Set up to configure the Mobile App (Authenticator App) it will display a QR code:

  1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, select Add Account then choose Work or School Account.

  1. Scan the QR code that is open on computer from step 4. Note: If scanning the QR does not work then you can also choose “enter code manually” at the bottom of the screen then enter the 9-digit code

  1. Click Next at the QR code screen then click Next once more to begin verification
  2. Enter the 6-digit code displayed in your authenticator app then select “Verify”
  3. Click Done to finish set up
  4. When logging in from new devices you will be prompted to enter your verification code after entering your regular password.  You will need to get the current code from the Microsoft Authenticator app every time as a new code is generated every 30 seconds.
